Maintaining biodiversity is a ‘key test’ of sustainable development. We have a strong background in ecology and biodiversity consultancy here at Woodrow Sustainable Solutions, and we believe that development proposals can not only consider biodiversity, but also take steps to enhance the natural environment.

We offer a number of services relating to ecology and biodiversity:

• Ecological consultancy, including surveys for a variety of taxonomic groups, and ecological impact assessment. Bird surveys are a particular specialism.
  
  
• Incorporating biodiversity benefits into development proposals. We know how developers can enhance biodiversity in cost-effective ways that don’t conflict with the core aims of the proposal or affect issues such as passive solar gain.
  
  
• Biodiversity consultancy and Biodiversity Action Plans. Woodrow Sustainable Solutions has already completed four separate Biodiversity Action Plans - for counties Sligo, Donegal, Monaghan and Wicklow.
  
  
• Tailored biodiversity training for Local Authorities and others. We have written Biodiversity Advice Notes for local Authorities and trained seven Local Authorities, with specific training for Planning, Roads, Water, Environment, Community and Housing functions and including best practice in environmental assessment of projects.
  
  
• Wildlife policy / regulation advice. This can be for both developers and decision-makers and includes specialist advice on the application of the EU Habitats Directive and Appropriate Assessment of plans and projects

• Impact mitigation and habitat restoration proposals.
  

Membership of the Institute of Ecological & Environmental Management (IEEM) means that Woodrow Sustainable Solutions adheres to codes of practice and guidelines to ensure a high quality of work in this area.
